week one in florence

The super nice resturant/hotel that we had dinner at

The Duomo

Finally made it to Florence!! I have only been here a week, but it feels like soo much longer. My flights over here ended up be really good. I didn't get to sleep much, but it went by a lot quicker than I thought it would. When we got to Florence airport we found that more than half of the plane had lost their luggage (it seemed like all of the other flights had a lot of lost luggage also, weird). API (the program that I am in) took us to the Hotel Baglioni where we stayed for 2 nights. It was a very nice hotel. The best part was that there was a roof top dining area that had a great veiw of the whole city, it was amazing! We moved into out apartments on Wednesday morning. Our apartment is only 5 minutes from the hotel which was very nice. The first day was very cold in the apartment becuase the heat was working, but no worries, it is all set now! I have 5 other housemates and they are all super cool, I definately lucked out. We have two bathrooms and a cute little kitchen and a dining area. We also have a small lounge area with a little tv. The apartment itself isn't bad, but the location is what makes it great. We have a bunch of like sandwich shops, wine stores, euro stores and supermarkets around us. It is so cool just to be able to walk right outside and get all of your stuff. Today was one of the first days that we didn't have any scheduled orientation stuff, so it was great to be able to catch up on some sleep. It is so nice to just walk around and enjoy the city and everything it has to offer (lots of shoes). Can't wait til I am able to speak enough italian so that I can have conversations with the locals and not be so american. This weekend is suppose to be kinda rainy/snowy, so its not the best time to take pictures, but it is something I NEED to do. That is all I have to ramble about now, but there will be more to come!
Ciao!
